How Many Leads Do Our Agents and Sellers Get From This Site? - January 4, 2009

When we designed these sites back in 1997, we wanted to make sure that any visitors who took the time to search for properties here could get the information they wanted as easily as possible. Therefore, unlike some other sites that make it difficult to find the contact information for the agent who has the listing, we have always provided links directly to the agents' websites, and additional links so that agents and sellers can link to their expanded information on each individual listing. If a buyer is interested in a particular property and wants to get ahold of the agent or seller immediately, we provide the phone number and a simple contact form that goes directly to them. However, because we make it so incredibly easy for buyers to get directly to our affiliate agents' websites, that is what most of them do...and here is the proof: In December alone, over 450,000 visitors on our sites clicked into our agents' sites for more information. That is like sending out an additional 450,000 leads, and that happens month after month! Most of those agents probably never knew the leads came from us, but we don't care. With about 100,000 water-related listings now on our sites at LakehomesUSA.com, RiverhomesUSA.com and OceanhomesUSA.com, we are attracting more and more buyers each day in search of waterfront homes, cabins, lots, condos...or any type of property on or near the water. We have now added a new feature that creates great exposure for waterfront developments and planned communities along all types of water bodies. Here you can see how Paula Drake of Crye Leike Lake Malone Realty has been able to use this technique to broaden the exposure for the Canyon Run Resort, to any buyers searching our site in the Western Kentucky Area. The ads work extremely well because they are tied in with each Featured Area, so as potential buyers scan the various properties available the ads are right in front of them. New Listing Design Today - November 25, 2008

Beginning today, you will see some positive changes in the layout of our listing pages, on every one of the more than 90,000 listings on our websites. The main photo will be much larger, and additional fields for expanded property information will be made available as new listings are added. Our email fields will disappear, in favor of a simple contact form, to give our agents and sellers protection from ever-increasing spam on the Internet. You may also notice a few other minor adjustments to make all three sites at LakehomesUSA.com, RiverhomesUSA.com and OceanhomesUSA.com look and feel more modern. Real Estate and the Internet - November 9, 2008

I was fortunate enough to be one of the early Realtors from the Wild West Days of the Internet back in 1996. That was back when everyone was still trying to figure out what to do with this new creature called the World Wide Web. By the time LakehomesUSA began in 1997, you could begin to find agents with personal websites in most areas of the country, and we helped quite a few of those early adopters become recognized as waterfront specialists with their online presence. Today, there are countless waterfront websites you can throw your money at to try and differentiate yourself...some good, but many others that may just look nice. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of agents who get caught up in appearance instead of effectiveness, which is really no surprise since most agents would rather be selling real estate than trying to figure out their Internet strategies. For over a decade we have proven ourselves as leaders in value and affordability. Now, to give ourselves and our affiliates even larger recognition in the marketplace, we will be changing our focus somewhat over the coming months to become more of a business partner than simply an advertising medium. We like to stay a little bit ahead of the competition...please stay tuned!

Our Website Traffic Is Up...Nearly 200%! - October 15, 2008

There are many tracking systems that give reports on all aspects of a website's traffic. Some are online sites, such as Compete.com and Quantcast.com, that pull a compilation of data and attempt to give an accurate measure of the statistics... while others like Google Analytics are systems that are coded directly into a website itself. Still others are built and run by the individual sites to report their own traffic. On our websites we also use a wide variety of outside and inhouse tracking systems, so that we can get the most accurate measure possible of our visitors and page views. Based on reports from the various tracking tools, LakehomesUSA.com has had between a 120% and 270% increase it its visitor traffic during the past year, while RiverhomesUSA.com and OceanhomesUSA.com have seen even greater gains. Whatever the exact number is, no one really knows. But there is no doubt that we are driving a lot more visitors to our listings in all areas of the country!

Now Add More Photos To Your Listings - October 13, 2008

Buyers love looking at property photos to help them get a better idea of the overall appearance of any listing. On waterfront real estate, it is especially important to provide a wide variety of photos that show not only the home or cabin, but also the shoreline and any views across the water. We have expanded our photo capability on all three sites at LakehomesUSA.com, OceanhomesUSA.com and RiverhomesUSA.com, so that anyone with a Spotlight Listing can now add up to 12 photos to help expose all the positive aspects of any listing.

Searching Made Easier - October 9, 2008

Today we introduced a new feature that allows visitors to search by lake name from most areas on our website. It is designed to bring you to the Featured Area that includes your chosen water body, but still allows you to view other water-related properties nearby without clicking in and out of that page.
